Chugunov: What counts are points

Share on:

Gleb Chugunov won the first first of U21 World Championship, which was held on Saturday in Lublin (Poland). Russian gathered 17 points and became the leader of the series.

Chugunov lost two last year's rounds, because of an injury, but this season, he's seen among the ones, who are ready to step up to reach gold. Meeting in Lublin only proved that Chugunov is ready to take this challenge. Despite a huge tiredness, he kept being in focus and in the final heat, left no illusions to his rivals.

- It was another good experience. Meeting wasn't easy for me. My heats had few repeats, which got me getting rid of strength to race. I had to pull myself together, though, to keep on going. I was able to do so and have some good racing in the last heats.

Chugunov topped the podium in Lublin, but also, thanks to points, he gathered, Russian leads the overall classification of the series.
Russian admits that what counts are points.

- Of course, I'm happy with this win, but what matters the most is how will I end the series. At the end of the day, no one will remember who won the first round, but who became the Individual Junior World Champion - Chugunov ended.

Second round of FOGO FIM Speedway U21 World Championship comes on 14th of September in Guestrow.
