2018 season was first for Robert Chmiel in U21 FIM Speedway World Championships cycle. Young rider from Rybnik had a pretty good reasult – he finished 9th with 11 points. It’s important to remember, that beginning wasn’t as good as final score. In Daugavpils, Pole scored only 1 point. Also in Leszno it was only a little bit better, because ROW Rybnik rider finished competition with 4 points. Now he’s explaining, that in Latvia he had some bad luck.
- Only in Pardubice I had a chance to show what I can do in such strong lineup. If I have to talk about the whole season, at the beginning I had some bad luck. In my first race in Dugavpils my engine was gone. Some time later I fell and destroyed my second bike. Leszno? It was just bad competition for me. Only the round in Pardubice saved my season – said rider from Rybnik.
The last year of riding as a junior is now ahead of Chmiel. For every rider it is a very important moment in their careers. Does ROW Rybnik pupil have some special goals for next season?
- If we’re thinking about U21 Worlds, I want to promote to finals. If I will do it, I will try to finish the cycle in top 3. I think, it’s a real goal – he said.
ROW Rybnik rider is very ambitious before every torunament. Did he have any thoughts after 2018 season?
- Of course there are some conclusions and there will be another. I will think about that soon. For sure, I need to improve my results and that’s my main goal – finished Robert Chmiel.
