Alexander Woentin is one of the riders, who received a permanent wild card for this year's EKO-DIR Speedway U-21 World Championship. Born in 2000, rider representing Sweden is the youngest in cycle's line up
Young Swede is a sensational participant of this year's rivalry for the world's top junior title. He was fighting to get through in the semi-final in Eskilstuna. Thanks to his good performance, he was classified at 5th position. However, Swede lost a direct promotion with Bartosz Smektała. Nevertheless, his score was noticed by the organizers, which gave him a permanent wild card for all three rounds of the series.
How does the Swedish rider see the line up, which he'll confront on July 23 in Poznan?
- Line up looks impressive. While looking at all these names, you can easily say that the whole 15 will be in the game for the title - Woentin said.
The youngest rider of the series will have his debut in the Junior World Championship. On the daily basis, he races in Sweden, representing VMS Elit Vetlanda (Elitserien) and Örnarna Mariestad (Allsvenskan). What are Woentin's goals for the series?
- I would like to get as many points as possible in every round and give 100% in every heat I'll be starting in. Plus, I want to make as many laps in Sweden as possible to get a clear view on my disposition and equipment - Swede added.
Riders starting in the Individual Junior World Championship have an opportunity to pick their number. "Alex" chose #73. What's the story behind it then?
- I got #73, because it relates to my date of birth. 7 - July and 3 is the day of my birth - Woentin ended.
