This weekend we start the fights for the title of the Individual Junior Speedway World Champion! The first stop of this year's series is the speedway stadium in Stralsund, Germany. It is here that the riders will compete for the first points for the general classification of the championship.

The competition for the FIM U21 Speedway WC title has been held continuously since 1977. At that time Alf Busk triumphed in the one-day final in Vojens. Last year, the one-day final round (due to the prevailing pandemic) took place in Pardubice. The winner of last year's final was the Australian Jaimon Lidsey, who will not be able to defend his title this season due to his age. In general, the most successful nation in the FIM U21 Speedway World Championship are the Poles. During all events in history, the white and red team won a total of 35 medals: 14 gold, 14 silver and 7 bronze.

This year's cycle of competitions for the title of Individual U21 World Champion promises to be extremely interesting. The riders will fight on three circuits: in Stralsund, Krosno and Pardubice. Each of these tracks has slightly different characteristics, so we can be sure that the potential winner of the title will have to demonstrate his speedway versatility to the maximum.

In the line-up of the FIM U21 Speedway WC 2021 there will be plenty of names that are already well-known to the fans of the “black sport”. One of such riders is Jakub Miśkowiak, who is one of the main keystones of the team from Częstochowa in the Polish PGE Ekstraliga this season. Kuba is one of the main favourites to win the gold medal. But let's face it, the stakes in this year's series are so even that practically each of these young contestants has a chance to win the top spot. Everything will be verified by this year's three tracks and ... a bit of luck.

Coming back to Saturday's competition, a lot will depend on the right fit during the training sessions before the event in Stralsund. Not every rider in the series has ever had the opportunity to ride there. That's why the "dark horses" might be the German riders Lukas Baumann and Erick Blödorn, who received a wild card from the organizers and won a bronze medal in the Individual German Championship on this track just a few weeks ago.

The favourites for Saturday's competition are also certainly the best known and experienced athletes. To this group we can count Jakub Miśkowiak, Wiktor Lampart, Jan Kvech or Francis Gusts. To sum up - we expect a really great race!
