This will be the second and final year that Ukrainian rider, Marko Levyshyn will be his country’s representative in the FIM Speedway U21 World Championship.
He came 12th place in Pardubice last year and then 11th in the U21 European Championship in Gdansk. “It was a difficult year due to the COVID-19 pandemic,” he summarises, “I only raced about nine heats. So, in the World Championships I didn’t manage to perform very well because there was little practice,” he admits.
This year he qualified by taking the 5th and final place in the qualifier in Daugavpils, a track he is very familiar with, “I have a contract with Lokomotiv but, unfortunately, I haven’t managed to try my hand in the Polish league yet,” he tells us.
“So, we are preparing for the Czech Ekstraliga in advance,” which is due to start when the regulations are relaxed later in the year. He continues, “but life has not stopped moving forward, I am preparing physically and work in the Ukraine and we live on,” he says, striking a positive tone.
Despite lack of practice due to the Coronavirus, the Ukrainian has still been able to make an impact on the junior international speedway scene in the last 18 months. And with two months before the FIM Speedway U21 World Championship starts in Stralsund, Lewyshyn will be hoping practice makes perfect in his final junior World Championship.
