Andreas Lyager finished 2018 U21 FIM Speedway Championships on 5th position. Dane, for whom it was second season in U21 Worlds, with 29 points, has been placed behind the biggest favourites – Bartosz Smektała, Maksym Drabik, Robert Lambert and Dominik Kubera.
21-year old rider did not have a good time in Daugavpils, where he scored only 7 points. That performance stole his chances to make a medal in 2018 U21 Worlds. Despite that, Lyager is satisfied with his final result.
- I’m satisfied. First round was horrible, so I’m glad that in general classification I was 5th – he said.
- I feel a little bit sad because I didn’t make anything more in my last season as a junior, but score in Daugavpils is clearly my fault and there are consequences of it. For sure, it will be a huge chance to start there again, but I’m born in December, so I can do anything – he explained.
Dane states that the level in U21 World Championships is very high this time.
- Only the best riders are participating in U21 Worlds and I have a lot of respect for them. That tournament isn’t easy, despite that it’s a junior cycle – finished Lyager.
