Very exhausting season is now behind Dominik Kubera. Unia Leszno pupil tried to get a U21 World Championship medal. He rode on equal level for the whole year, but he lost the final battle for the podium. It’s right time to summarize last few months.
Every time, when riders like Dominik Kubera, Bartosz Smektała or Maksym Drabik are riding in U21 tournaments, Polish fans can expect some huge things. For first rider, fantastic information was that one of U21 World's round would take place in Leszno.
That’s true, that Kubera made his best result on hometrack, where he scored 13 points, but we have to stress that in other competitions he made only 1 point less. Finally, 4th position was clearly deserved, so Dominik has to be satisficated.
- When I looked back, the season was pretty good and I’m pleased. Of course I had a little break due to foot injury, but despite that I’m happy with what I achieved – said Unia Leszno rider.
Finally, young rider didn’t reach a podium in U21 Worlds, but other riders were very strong, too. After an epic fight, Bartosz Smektała beat Maksym Drabik. The only non-Polish rider in the top of general classification was Robert Lambert. Another year will bring some new hopes, but Dominik Kubera, as always, is keeping calm.
- I’m motivated every year. This time I just hadn’t enough luck. Something didn’t work – he said.
Despite his age, Kubera showed that he’s very mature rider. Ugly injury from meeting against Falubaz Zielona Góra didn’t stop him. That caused him being in the game in U21 Worlds and helping Unia Leszno to win Team Polish Championship. He still has a lot of time to make some good individual results. Who knows, maybe 2019 will be the best for him?
