Jakobsen: I proved my value

Share on:

Fredrik Jakobsen got into the FIM Speedway U21 World Championship by storm. In Daugavpils, Dane presented solid racing, confirmed by his score - 10 points in his first four heats.

Jakobsen made a positive surprise during the inaugural round of the Individual Speedway Junior World Championship. He impressed fans with speed and brilliant style of racing.

- I had a good start to the meeting with 10 points after 4 heats, but got a bit unlucky in the ending unfortunately. I felt like I proved where I belong and I'm one of the top U21 riders in the world - Jakobsen said.

After the meeting in Daugavpils, Danish rider is sixth in the overall classification of the series, losing 6 points to Bartosz Smektała, who's third.

- There's still a big chance for me to grab a podium spot in the end of this tournament. If I just keep on scoring point into the table I will be in a good position in the end, and maybe reach for a medal. I would be very happy with that.

Second round of this year's series is going to be held in Leszno. At the Alfred Smoczyk stadium, Fredrik Jakobsen has been racing once so far, however as he says, this track doesn't make him feel uncomfortable.

- Yes, I've been there once last year for a memorial meeting. It's a quite nice and fast track and I think my experience with Polish racing over the last 1,5 year will help me a lot in this meeting. It suits me well with my style and I can't wait to be in Leszno for the second round!
