Robert Lambert got the second position in the inaugural round of FIM Speedway U21 World Championship 2018, which was held in Daugavpils. "Ruthless" gathered 17 points and in the final heat, was defeated by Maksym Drabik.
Lambert is undoubtedly one of the main candidates to reach for the title of Individual Speedway Junior World Champion. Brit has impressed many with his fabolous disposition from beginning of the season. His top form was confirmed in Daugavpils as well. Four persuasive wins made him gather 17 points overall, losing 3 points to the leader - Maksym Drabik.
During the rivalry in Latvia, Robert Lambert presented some solid racing. What's interesting, in the main series, he had Maksym Drabik and Bartosz Smektała finishing heats behind his bacl. In the final, British rider was leading for most of the time, however a fabolous action made by Maksym Drabik got him rid of his premier win in FIM Speedway U21 World Championship.
- It was a good meeting for me, way better than last year's inauguration in Poznań, where I had a good start, but had a crash later on. It's a good opening of the series - Lambert said.
Second round of the series is going to be held in Leszno.
- I count on a good result. I started in Leszno last year, during the Speedway World Cup, didn't do well though. Now, I have different equipment and I'll be prepared for the rivalry on this surface - "Ruthless" added.
Because of the Speedway Grand Prix round in Cardiff, which is going to be taken the day before in Cardiff, Lambert will be missed at the official practice before the round in Leszno.
- Probably, I won't manage to come to the official practice because of GP, so I just hope I will be able to figure out this track in my first heat - Lambert ended.
