Last season wasn't good for Danish speedway. Average results in Speedway Grand Prix, Speedway Euro Championship, some events ended with injuries or bad U21 riders’ performance in Worlds. It seems like season 2018 is coming with new chances.
Now we want to check which Danes are going to fight in Individual U21 World Championships in 2018.
Again, one of the strongest Danes will be Patrick Hansen. It seemed that rider born in 1998 will finish the cycle on the podium in 2017, because one year before he was faster than ever and finished 5th with 2 points loss to the podium. This year Dane will start in two leagues - Polish and Danish, which will help him grow. 13th place from 2017 may not repeat.
Second Danish candidate to take a medal is Andreas Lyager, who will be part of three leagues this year - Polish, Danish and German. This huge talent is coming this year to forBet Włókniarz Częstochowa. Working with Marek Cieślak, one of the best speedway coaches, who has big skills in working with young riders will be very important. For sure, Lyager won't be one of the most important guys in team from Częstochowa, but work with Polish National Team coach will gave him a lot. Furthermore, his motivation will be huge, because it's his last season as a U21 rider.
Also, we have to note something about Frederik Jakobsen. Youth from Denmark was the best Naturalna Medycyna PSŻ Poznań rider in Polish 2nd division. The club CEO is sure that Jakobsen will do a lot of huge things and it’s confirmed by Dane's permormance in Team U21 World Championships final. Back then Jakobsen was a team leader and had the biggest impact to taking bronze medals.
Who knows, maybe someone other than those mentioned will surprise us? Danes have a lot of hope to improve their results after disappoiting 2017 season.
