Bartosz Smektała has got a phenomenal season behind, which was confirmed by a long list of medals reached in 2017. One of the most precious ones is definitely silver in the U21 World Championship. In 2018, one of the rounds of the world's best juniors rivalry, will be taken in Leszno, which is Smektała's home track. As he admits, right now, he's fully focused on qualifying to the series.
Bartosz Smektała was second in the general classification of FIM Speedway U21 World Championship. Junior rider of FOGO Unia Leszno was able to win of the rounds - in Güstrow. In the whole series "Smyk" crossed the line 8 times as the first and he had the same amount of 2nd positions. During the final round in Pardubice, Smektała fought with Max Fricke for silver and thanks to a little help from Kacper Woryna, it was Pole, who ultimately stood at the second step of the podium.
In 2018, Individual World Junior Championship will be taken in Holsted, Leszno and Pardubice. Especially, the second round can be enjoyed by Smektała, because it's his home track. Polish national rider is glad of such choice, however, before he'll be able to fight in Leszno, he has to reach a promotion to the series.
- Firstly, I need to get my place in the finals and there's a long road ahead and still a lot to be done - Smektała said during the "Let's Make Speedway" Gala, organized on 10th anniversary of One Sport company.
Fogo Unia's rider is aiming into ambitious goals and one of them is another medal of the world championship.
- I will definitely be ready for the finals - it's my goal for 2018. World Champion title is one of my dreams. I've been working hard to fill it.
Bartosz Smektała has got his best season in his so far career and he's underlining his full commitment to this discipline.
- Hard work is the answer - speedway is my whole life, I see nothing I could do except it. Speedway gives me joy and that's what matters - Smektała ended.
